A flagship five-decade Catholic rosary with a distinctive story connecting Saint Columba, Iona, Ireland and Scotland.
Designed and handmade in Paisley, Scotland, this rosary combines dark oval maple beads, hand-knotted cord and original bronze metalwork created specifically for Paisley Honey. The Saint Columba centre and Iona cross are our own designs rather than standard bought-in religious components, giving retailers a genuinely differentiated alternative to mass-produced devotional goods.
The front of the reversible medal depicts Saint Columba with a book and crozier, surrounded by the bird, boat, church and water associated with his life and journey to Iona. A small bee forms part of the design as Paisley Honey’s maker’s mark and a symbol of patience, community and shared work. The reverse carries a raised map of Scotland within flowing Celtic interlace and botanical details.
The long bronze cross is our original interpretation of the historic high crosses of Iona, particularly Saint Martin’s Cross. Its ringed form, sculpted bosses and deeply textured panels give the piece strong visual presence while remaining tactile and comfortable to use in prayer.
Maple, bronze and cord were chosen as warm, humble and enduring materials. The rosary is substantial enough to feel reassuring in the hand but remains relatively light at approximately 50 g. Its story and materials make it particularly well suited to Catholic gift shops, cathedral and abbey shops, Celtic and heritage retailers, pilgrimage destinations and stores serving Irish and Scottish diaspora communities.
Saint Columba—also known as Colum Cille—has enduring significance across Ireland and Scotland. This makes the rosary a meaningful choice for prayer, pilgrimage, confirmation, reception into the Church, ordination, remembrance and other important moments of faith.
